Allopurinol ( Zyloric , Aloprim , Zyloprim )

Allopurinol is taken orally once a day after a meal. |

Allopurinol should be taken at the same time every day. |

Start with a low dose of allopurinol and gradually increase. |
|

It may take several months for allopurinol to yield its full benefit. |

Allopurinol may increase the frequency of acute attack during the first few months of therapy. To avoid this, either colchicine or NSAIDs may given simultaneously.
